Providing Access to Course Materials

Stud.IP: Files Section

You can upload your course materials to the Files section in your course on Stud.IP and organize them into folders. You can set different permissions for each file and/or folder.

Cloud Storage

You can upload and organize your files and folders in your cloud storage provided by the university. By using the sharing option, you can give your students or collages access to your files and folders, and use these for storing materials that need to be shared.

A short introduction to OnlyOffice can be found here. The document is currently available only in German. For assistance in English, email us at edidaktik@uol.de.

Online Course Modules and Learning Units

You can create interactive learning modules on Stud.IP by using the Courseware plugin. Courseware allows you to structure your content in chapters, sub-chapters and sections composed of texts, PDFs, photos, videos and other file formats. You can also embed small tests, which you can create by using the Stud.IP plugin Vips (see here) for more information).

Detailed instructions for using Courseware are here. This document is currently available only in German. Should you need help with Courseware in English, please contact our team at edidaktik@uol.de. We’d be glad to help!

Learning Modules

With the Learning Modules plug in, you can create individual H5P-enriched learning modules (see footnote 1 at the bottom of this page for more information on H5P). You can also embed videos or link to other websites to supplement your course materials.

WordPress for Course Related Blogs or E-Portfolios

Another tool for online collaboration is WordPress, which you can use directly on Stud.IP by activating the WordPress Connector plugin. There many different uses for this tool. As an instructor, you can use a blog to gather all course materials, guidelines and information in one place. Students can use blogs to work on individual or group assignments, or they can have their individual blogs. Blogs allow the integration of various file formats (photos, videos, audio, PDF) that can be clearly organized and presented. WordPress also supports LaTex. H5P elements[1] can be created directly in WordPress. The comment function is a convenient way to give feedback, but instructors can also use it for other questions and/or providing answers to issues that students raise.

This page provides instructions for WordPress and the H5P plugin. It is currently available only in German, but if you need support in English, just email us at edidaktik@uol.de.

A detailed WordPress tutorial—explaining how to create a blog and edit content, and showcasing possible pedagogical uses—is available on Stud.IP. Go to the following course https://elearning.uni-oldenburg.de/dispatch.php/course/details?sem_id=a524822daa1846ecc186f993adb4a19e and click on WordPress-Tutorial in the navigation menu.

Wikis

Wiki is a collaborative tool that allows you and your students to create and modify texts and pages asynchronously. Texts can be formatted and wikis linked to one another, so they can develop into a reference (net)work for course related materials.

[1] H5P enables you to create interactive teaching elements. There are many different types of content that you can create with H5P, check them out here: https://h5p.org/content-types-and-applications. They can be used on different platforms, including Stud.IP and WordPress. You can create such content directly on Stud.IP and in WordPress.
