Collaboration

Creating Groups on Stud.IP

Under the Participants tab you can organize students into groups and facilitate in this way group work in your course. Each group can have their own files section and their own Wikis.

Collaborating on Documents: Texts, Slides, Spreadsheets

The university provides access to OnlyOffice, which you can use to create texts files, spreadsheets and slides. You can collaborate with others and edit documents at the same time, directly in the browser. You can read students’ texts, comment and edit (with or without tracking changes). Students can also use OnlyOffice to collaborate on text files, spreadsheets or slides.

You can access OnlyOffice through University’s Cloud-Storage service: https://cs.uol.de.

To use OnlyOffice, you first have to register and activate your Cloud-Storage account. For instructions, see here.

Here you can find a short introduction to OnlyOffice.  The document is currently available only in German. Should you need support in English, email us at edidaktik@uol.de.

WordPress for Course Related Blogs or e-Portfolios

Another tool for online collaboration is WordPress, which you can use directly on Stud.IP by activating the WordPress Connector plugin. There many different uses for this tool. As an instructor, you can use a blog to gather all course materials, guidelines and information in one place. Students can use blogs to work on individual or group assignments, or they can have their individual blogs. Blogs allow the integration of various file formats (photos, videos, audio, PDF) that can be clearly organized and presented. WordPress also supports LaTex. H5P elements can be created directly in WordPress. The comment function is a convenient way to give feedback, but instructors can also use it for other questions and/or providing answers to issues that students raise.

This page provides instructions for WordPress and the H5P plugin. It is currently available only in German, but if you need support in English, just email us at edidaktik@uol.de.
